Outsourcing to an Industrial Laundry, what is it that I mean by that? With so many options how do you know what is right for your business? We are going to look at some alternatives available to you and why outsourcing to an Industrial Launderer makes sense.
In-house Laundering
While most believe that by maintaining laundry in-house, they can control the cost of the overall operation and labor. However, the challenge most owners/operators are faced with are getting down to their true critical number when it comes to operating cost. In most instances, the lack of training and knowledge of laundry materials such as fabrics, chemicals (detergents), agitation time, dry time cycles, etc. are inadvertently costing you money.
Secondly, the loss of production whether it is one employee of multiple employees can really affect the owners/operators’ bottom line in profitability. Meaning that this employee/employee’s time and efforts can be better spent managing the needs of the business that create profitable returns. As an example, for a hotel operator that enlist the service of two employees managing the washroom to launder, dry, and fold. Opposed to those same two employees being on the property serving the need of the business. Now, that could be expediting the preparedness of vacated rooms to ensure that upon the arrival of new guest that their reservation is met and are able to accommodate that customer with a greater consumer experience, or it could be maintaining the overall look and appearance of the property to again enhance the overall consumer experience, therefore, creating repeat business.
Outsourcing Laundry Needs
A growing alternative to inhouse laundry is outsourcing to an Industrial Launder. These are great options to owners/operators regardless of what stage in business they are currently at. Whether you are a start-up, tenured, or even an established business, knowing the capabilities of what an Industrial Launder can do for your business is crucial.
The great thing about exploring these options is that you can better prepare and budget for expenses as you will have a truer number to work off of. You see as an Industrial Launder we have volume buying power when it comes to the needs of materials as mentioned above. Given the need for multiple wash formulas to launder so many various types of fabrics and materials, we have the room to store and manage these chemicals (detergents) unlike that of a smaller business attempting to launder inhouse.
We have the trained team members on staff who have been educated on the different wash formulas required for all the different materials along with the wash cycles for both laundering and drying. Did you know the number one cause to replacement of fabric-based materials is being over dried? Imagine the number of dollars you could have saved if you had a properly managed wash program.
Us having the training and certifications allows you to operate your business and manage your employees to tend to those things that are making you profitable. Leave the laundry to us!
Furthermore, we have relationships with the vendors, we can provide you the customer with the very materials or products that will be laundered on your behalf. In most cases, we can actually sell you the very product you are already purchasing at a lesser rate because of our buying power.
Laundry Programs Available
There are two types of programs you can explore, Rental or COG (Customer Owned).
Rental programs are great and a highly recommended option if you have never explored it. Why? No peaks and no valleys when it comes to cost. Rental is designed for the provider to absorb the initial upfront cost on your behalf and create a Levelized billing program with a specified amount of inventoried product for you. This is an amazing program when you are monitoring your profit and loss because you can forecast off of it and project your annual expense. Best of all normal wear & tear replacements or repairs are maintained by the provider at no additional cost to you.
COG or Customer Owned programs are great programs where an owner/operator wants to have more hands-on involvement of the quality and quantity levels of the goods or products being laundered for their business. In most cases, the launderer is also the provider of the purchased material to you the customer. The great thing about this program is it allows for flexibility. You see in the COG program the laundering price is established either by piece or by laundered poundage. If the owner/operator wants to work off of a fixed amount weekly they only remit X amount of soil for laundering, some may even choose that for special circumstances to retain portions of their inventory inhouse for specific events or guests.
Both programs are great opportunities to you the business owner and if you would like to learn more about how outsourcing to an Industrial Laundry can be a benefit to your business contact us today and we will be happy to serve.
